Moving Overseas with IntlMOVE and Community Support
When you move overseas with IntlMOVE, you can leave the international shipping of your household goods to the experts.
The hardest thing, for many people, about moving overseas is leaving behind your community support.
It takes a lot of time and effort to build up a network of close friends and business associates that you can trust.
Leaving family can also be difficult in your transition.
Many people can move overseas and find the support they need in their new communities in their new countries.
Technology today allows you to stay close to friends and family back home while finding new ways to connect with locals and other expats in your new country.
IntlMOVE wants to provide current and potential expats with resources needed to make your transition overseas easier and more enjoyable.
For that reason, IntlMOVE has put together tips to help you get the support you need from your new community overseas.
The first group of people you will want to connect with is other expats.
Other expats will be experiencing the same fears and frustrations that you will experience.
These people will also be missing their support groups in their own countries, so they are more open to connecting on a social level.
Expats tend to congregate with one another to explore the country together and to help each other adjust to their new life.
This support will help you adjust to your new life in your new country.
Other expats will usually be your first group of contacts.
Advice from other expats or foreigners living in your new country is very valuable and can go a long way.
Not only can they give you helpful tips and tricks for housing and jobs, but they can also give you helpful insights on everyday living.
When you connect with an expat community overseas, you can meet at local restaurants, pubs or coffee shops.
You can even have different events at your homes and take turns hosting the group.
Even though you will want to try to mingle with the locals, the fact is that most foreigners tend to befriend people from their home countries.
This is especially true if you are moving to a new country where English is not the national language.
You may be wondering how to find other people in your community that are foreigners.
The first place to look is at your place of employment.
If your new company hired you, they have likely hired other foreigners.
You can also research on the Internet which restaurants, pubs or areas of town are popular for expats.
Don’t be shy when you meet someone new overseas, because the chances are that they are in the same boat as you.
They will want to make friends with people to grow their own circle of friends, so you will find that many people are open to grabbing a cup of coffee to start a friendship.
The next way you can meet expats is by using online social tools.
There are meet-up groups you can attend and you can also research different expat communities as a way to meet people.
These online groups can also be used as a way to find dates if you are moving overseas as a single person.
When you are moving overseas, don’t completely disengage from locals.
It can be comforting to find people from your home country, but the best part about moving overseas is experiencing a new culture.
You will miss out on many experiences if you don’t try to make friends with people who are local to your new country.
When you move overseas, you will want the transition to be as easy as possible.
Plan ahead and your move will be a much more pleasant experience.

Finding friends overseas is not as challenging as you might think. When you meet other expats, they are definitely open to making new friends because they are in the same boat as you. I have found that locals are interested in getting to know me because they are curious about my life in the US. As long as you can find people with common hobbies, you will have no problems. Moving overseas is easy with IntlMOVE.
